My name is Kathy Kenny and I am the Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach at Belmar Elementary School. It is hard to believe but this is my thirtieth year in education. I taught first grade for seventeen years and this is my thirteenth year in my current position.  Even after all of these years, teaching continues to be my passion!
My role as the Reading Specialist at Belmar Elementary includes teaching Fundations, guided reading, as well as Action 100 in all three first grade classes. In addition, I work with various individual students in all grade levels everyday, as needed.
As a literacy coach, I train ELA teachers and oversee the reading programs used at the school. Also, I am co-director of I&RS (Intervention and Referral Services) and manage the PEEPs program (Partnership for Effective Educator Practices) in coordination with Georgian Court University. Student teachers in the program volunteer at Belmar Elementary School and complete reading conferences with primary students. I hold a Reading Specialist certificate, a Supervisor of Instruction certificate, and have my Wilson Reading Level 1 certification, as well.
