    This year is moving along quickly.  The students have been working on a
    variety of concepts.  In May we will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo. 
    The students will learn about the culture and the typical foods of Mexico as
    well as the History of Cinco de Mayo.  Below you will find a brief
    description of the material that is covered in each grade.


    Kindergarten:
    The kindergarten students will use Brown Bear Brown Bear
    and the Very Hungry Caterpillar this year to learn a variety of topics. Some of
    which include colors, animals, days of the week, months, foods, and numbers.


    First Grade:
    The first graders cover the following units Calendar, clothing, health,
    Community and transportation and animals. These units include some of the
    following topics: Days of the week, months, seasons, colors, numbers, clothing,
    parts of the body and face, animals and transportation.


    Second Grade:
    The second graders cover the following units Calendar, foods, House,
    Geography and Sports. These units include some of the following topics: Days of
    the week, months, seasons, colors, numbers, parts of the house, food, likes and
    dislikes, and different sports.


    Third Grade: 
    The third graders cover the following units Calendar, School, time, family
    and me, friends. These units include some of the following topics: Days of the
    week, months, seasons, colors, numbers, family members, and date.


    FourthGrade:
    The fourth graders cover the
    following units Calendar, clothing, health, Community and transportation and
    animals. These units include some of the following topics: Days of the week,
    months, seasons, colors, numbers, clothing, parts of the body and face, animals
    and transportation.

     
    FifthGrade:
    The fifth graders cover the following units Calendar, foods, House, Geography and
    Sports. These units include some of the following topics: Days of the week,
    months, seasons, colors, numbers, parts of the house, food, likes and dislikes,
    time, the alphabet and different sports. They will also be working on a variety
    of grammar aspects as well as some exposure to some Hispanic culture and
    traditions
     
    Sixth Grade:
    The sixth graders cover the following units Calendar, foods, House, Geography,
    health and Sports. These units include some of the following topics: Days of
    the week, months, seasons, colors, numbers, parts of the house, food, likes and
    dislikes, parts of the body and different sports. They will also be working on
    a variety of grammar aspects as well as some exposure to some Hispanic culture
    and traditions.

    The Seventh and Eighth graders have
    been working on a variety of concepts from their textbooks.
    Buen
    Viaje! (8thGrade) and ¡Exprésate! (7thGrade).  They work on vocabulary and
    grammar concepts as well as a variety of projects.  They also learn many
    cultural concepts throughout the year.
